I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday yesterday. We attended our parish's 11 AM Mass, an hour well timed as the bird is definitely in the oven and the Lions game didn't kick off till 12:30. The attendance was very good, better than a lot of holy days if truth be told, When I was a pastor I held Thanksgiving Mass on Wednesday evening around 7 PM, followed by a pie social. One year the space shuttle was scheduled to launch at 7:01 PM, so we all gathered in front of the church to watch it go up in the night sky, as we were only about 35 miles or so from the Cape.
Next week will be a busy one: I will be away for three days of retreat, I have two religious education workshops, and clinic hours. However, I will try to keep the coffee fresh here.
Since the Café is devoted to adult education and interests, I have often wondered about reading habits in America generally. Do Americans read books at all? I found an interesting study from PEW research on this very issue. You may want to look at it before heading out to Barnes and Noble for Christmas shopping.
